First of the Year 20-11

At the ending of a year I always check the purposes that I was committed to do. One person once told me that writing purposes for the year is useless cause most of the times they're rarely achieved . I believe purposes help to define the path we need to follow to find what we are looking for; perhaps happiness, an achievement, a behavior change or a new direction of life.

My proposition is the you write them down at the end of the year and keep track of the completion of them quarterly, I suggest as well to let aims guide your weekly goals and actions; I usually use Sunday to plan my week, this day I take advantage of the time and check my year purposes in order to remember and let them remember where I want to be.

At the end of this year I hope to be happier, find great people to share with them dreams, businesses, projects, ways of think, and contribute more to the city and my country. I'm really worry about the situation in Mexico; about the differences in opportunities that prevail along the county, to know that very rich people is guiding the public policies of the country, that drugs and security is threatening society because of these wealth differences.

I'm convince that we have what we are; the government we elected reflect the social situation.

I'm really glad to come back to the writing and I would be very pleased to read comments of you and to meet people through this forum where I usually share what I am and what I believe in. Hope you a great year!

Inspired

I hope not making that much mistakes while writing this post. I have some months that left this blog forgotten but I've always wanted to keep this thing updated. I say I could make mistakes writing in English cause I also have months without writing or even talking in English; the only thing I do with this language almost every day is reading.

Since last post which was on April, 18th thinks with life have changed; May, Jun, July, August, September and October by the end, almost 6 months... shit... well along these 6 months some things are quite the same; doing a so-called master degree about information systems management, working as a software developer 6 hours a day, working with the firm I'd like to consolidate, and new on this list I have 2 volunteering responsibilities within a urban cycling association and as volunteer on a PMI community with is working to become a chapter.

The 2 new task are really destroying the little free time I used to have but for me those are really important for my personal goals and professional aims.

The first organization is called Ciclos Urbanos AC or translated Urban Cyclers (http://www.facebook.com/ciclos.urbanos). This organization is working to make Culiacan (where I live) a friendly, sustainable and respectful city. With Ciclos Urbanos I've met people who is very interesting, most of them are younger than me but they're really worried about the problems we have. The way they promote a better place to live is using the bicycle cause they argue that motor-based-transportation have stolen streets which should be a place belonging to everybody.

The second organization is a Project Management Institute Community belonging to Mexico Chapter. This group have been working on the promotion of project management best practices aligned to the studies and resources of the PMI. Here I've helped with the development of the business plan and I've support the group with operations stuff... I'm with this group cause I'm convinced that I can find business partners or people who can work with similar projects than those that I'm working with.

Yeah... many things but as I maybe said before, the only think I want is will, motivation and enthusiasm to work on stuff that I like.

Hope you make contact with me, I'm always glad of receiving news from friends.

Interesting First 3 Months

Since my last blog post it's been 3 months which have been quite different as I they used to be. I continue with my current job as a information systems programmer, my consulting venture, master and frontenis playing. MTB (mountain biking), PMI community and urban cycling volunteer are new on this list. Guess what, now I have less free time than before but I enjoy everything... Less free time means no TV, fewer movies and reading.

Tomorrow I begin with the 3rd. period of the studies I confess that being a student with these many activities make me feel quite stress or better said under high pressure, nevertheless I love learning new things or reaffirming knowledge that I learned during bachelor or job experiences.

Another good thing that I did during theses months is the trip to Flagstaff, Arizona; a place to the north of Phoenix where they have a ski resort :D. The on way journey was 17-hour-long, we spent 3 days there; first day (the day of my birthday) we came to the Grand Canyon, it was impressive! we were hiking down the canyon but only one hour down and one hour up, at the end every of us were really tired; the 2nd and 3rd day was designed for skiing!! hell yeah!!! Arizonas Snowbowl was the place... these 2 days were great!!

Many things still to do!! The only thing I need is will!! have a great week!!

Tuff Week

Feeling better is better :D... Have you ever heard that after a night of party and liters of alcohol your body start to segregate a substance which I think is called serotonin and may cause depression.

I reflect and I realize that I always post on Sunday which is a good day for hangover so maybe I should think of stop drinking or change the posting day... mmm well maybe less booze on Saturday and post on Sunday; it's a better mix :).

I'd like to write about that week that just finished. It was a very stressful but productive week. First as you maybe know I have more than 3 months that I've been play fronttennis which is game similar to squash and tennis of course but I think it's was invented in Mexico. Some friends and me are use to play in the park of the city we've gotten some playing friend who are cool to play with. We play on Mondays and Thursdays and I'm always looking forward to start playing... I mean I used to play tennis before but because of job I stop playing but frontennis has been a very good replace cause I really have fun.

I also start a Adobe Flex course on Monday, its trainning from my job, I mean, we maybe start using this platform to develop the applicacions. It is going to be a 3-week-course and I'm really enjoying learning this.

I just finished I consulting proyect for a new coffee shop called 'minutos coffee'... yeah the name is a mix of spanish-english but the meaning if pretty straightforward, guess it :P. The project was small and I didn't get much money but we finished it quickly and the customer was very happy. I've been also working in an other project proposal which is bigger and much more challenging... I haven't finish the proposal yet but I really would like to close the sale of this project.

As you can seen I had a very full week by the end of the week I was really exahusted, I went out on Friday and Saturday afternoon but Saturday evening I felt asleep... let's see what's comming this this week :)

Read me soon!

New Job?

Since the last post, things changed somehow. I stared a job as a programmer in the UAS (state university) and i’ve kept doing ownbusiness work.

Job in the UAS is quite interesing, I’m programming with PHP a professor survey for the students, I’m working 8 hours aday with 2 hours to have lunch… so it’s like a part-time-job therefore I have the whole morning to keep doing my businesses (do you thing I sound like an asshole hahah); doing my business means that I offering enterprise solutions using software and any othe kind of IT.

Last week was my first one there and people seem to be fairly nice. Most of them are married eventhought they’re funny and have that youth spirit.

Now uncertanity has gone away but I’m still doing my best to be a business guy.

Sunday’s Writing

Summer is going away here… nights begin earlier and air freshness is felt during mornings and late night, still hot during the day light. With this changes I feel that time is passing so fast… as older I am as faster I feel time past very quickly. I believe because one starts to think strategically, I mean, one start to arrange the pieces of life puzzle and see returns very late.

Finally we (my partner and me) are feeling that we almost find our first customers, I feel very excited but I also feel very nervous, uncertainty is very common in my everyday life but I’ve started to appreciate it and transform it to motivation… well I confess that I feel unmotivated sometimes but hobbies like tennis playing, going to the gym, reading, sometime dancing salsa, listening to relaxing jazz internet radio stations make me feel strong enough to keep me up.

I feel I’ve left many thinks that I shouldn’t but sometimes is necessary to do it in order to fight for dreams and stuff.

This time I wrote in a deeper proper manner, sometime I need it. :D (the word “proper” always make me recall British.

Hard Work!

I’m sittin’ on the living room of my home listening to Brazzaville songs, almost finishing the cd and resting from a hard week. The weather is quite hot on the other hand I’m not hot… yeah, now shine on your crazy diamond song is playing on the music component… I also finished a cup of tea (green stuff and chamomile) :D but it wasn’t hot cuz is not very nice drink a hot tea with 35°C.

As I wrote a couple of week ago, I’ve been making up a plan for a project in the fabrics’ retailer. These two week have been fairly tuff, working 8 to 9 hours a day, reading and learning on the day-to-day. So far, my partner is working very hard too. I believe she’s motivated as well. I learn from her everyday but I always try to find alternative solutions as a way to compare different options.

Perhaps, we’ll be presenting the plan to chairman of the company during next week. We must find the ways to convince him about the benefits of everything what we’re offering but let me tell you that I’ve been making mistakes during the development of the project plan. I guess is normal for inexperience people.

2 Weeks after the Cuban Trip

Yes… now things are different… i’m running out of money and now I need to steal or get start a job. During these two week I’ve been searching on these job portals where you can publish your CV and find a vacancy according to your profile but, you know what, I really think this is not the best way to find one effectively, therefore, I started to send résumés to people that somehow I know and are working on companies where I’d like to work too but in either cases I haven’t received good choices so I’m still looking for.

On the other hand I was asked to work as advisor or junior consultant in a fabric retailer of my city, afterward I’m working on a proposal to improve point-of-sale and inventory processes. This project is planned to be executed by my partner and me… and by the way, I have support from my uni to start a firm. It’s a challenge but is very motivating for me.

I’m really excited at this time but I’m also a bit worry about a failure on this, anyway I’ll put all the effort to achieve the goals and objectives defined. I would be glad to write good news on this blog next week, so, keep reading.

Bye bye!

Time to Write Again

I don’t accept myself when I don’t write on my blog because of the lack of time. When I started with this I promised myself keep writing every Sunday but like most of the times, urgent things superimpose important things.

Your know what?, I feel that I haven’t done anything important during these weeks that I haven’t written… yes… I’ve been pretty busy with project and stuff like that specially one the development of a system about a point-of-sale/inventory for a Retail store.

As you maybe know, the next, is my last week as a university student… I have this feeling again that I had when I was leaving Sweden; I don’t realized that I’m finishing my undergraduate studies and I feel that I’m gonna continue with this next semester, even thought I’ve been looking for jobs and I’ve made few interviews.

Now I remember that last week wasn’t that bad… I received the grades from two exams, the EGEL, which is an independent examination that evaluated the whole studies… damn… I got a great score… I was surprised and of course very happy, I know this is not that significant but at least I know that my knowledge is not shit J. I got my toefl score as well… I did it better that the last time anyway I need to do it better next time.

Finally I wanna tell you that next week is my last week as student. Now that I’m reflecting I sure I will miss my student days … I would say that my years as a student were very interesting, rewarding as well as challenging… it doesn’t mean that I won’t be student again, I have plans to continue learning and studying hopefully abroad…

For that moment I want to say: enjoy your student life.

Hard Work for this Week

What happen when you don’t know what to write about?... well this week has been one like this, focusing everyday in my college assignments, doing some graduation tasks, going to my tennis training, visiting the gym, and on Friday competing with my friend Adlemi, in the “Friendship Race”…

The last Friday, Adlemi and me participated in a competition; running for around 2 km around the Campus where I’m studying and reaching the finish together… well… we didn’t get a place like the first arriving people but, we enjoy it a lot... ☻

This weekend I’ve been working on my projects progress because I’m gonna have partial exams next week and my some of my teams and me were asked for some kind of progress report and some deliverable of the work we’ve done. By the way, I didn’t tell you what my university projects are about. If you’re not interested pass to the next paragraph…

For my Information Systems Seminar as teams we’re gonna implement ITIL, or at least the practices of the service management books. I guess we’ll do this in a real company, but we haven’t started it yet.

We need to develop an inventory/point-of-sale system to manage the operation of a fabric retailer where my sister works. For this project we’re self demanding a high effort because the company really needs help to organize their operations and professionalize their labor force. Technically speaking, we’re using RUP (Rational Unified Process) to accomplish the objectives that we defined; we’ll use C# with SQL Server and perhaps some ASP .NET. The big challenge is that I’ve never written a line of code in this language so I have around 3 months to learn it and develop the system. Man… I need to pass everything otherwise I won’t receive my degree this May.

In the subject: comprehensive solutions for companies, we need to find a company with a historical transactional database in order to make a data warehouse and develop something called cube… I’m not sure about this :p… but this is something such an executive dashboard for decisions making.

And for entrepreneurial development we’ll be helping micro companies from a poor community of my city. We’ll help them to make a business plan and link them with financial instruments in order to increase their turnover and/or sales. This program is part of the initiative from my university that comes with the definition of the new mission to the year 2015.

This way you maybe imagine that I’m with lot of things to do and more because of the exams next week… but I like what I’m doing so I’m sure I will overcome this issues…

By the way, some people told me that they read my blog; this motivated me to continue writing… so keep reading and have a wonderful week!...
